The Making of Mission Loft

The Making of Mission Loft

Mission Loft designer, Michael Grova, rarely has time to sit still these days. When he’s not coordinating events at one of his busy properties, you can find him at Airbnb where he regularly consults on design. And pretty much all the time you will find him with Enzo, his devoted pup who rarely leaves his side.

It is truly the mark of an entrepreneur to have their hands in many pots, and Michael certainly does. In both Mission Loft properties he’s not only the designer but he’s also custom built much of the furniture, crafted the beautiful macrame lights hanging throughout the properties (also available in his online store (https://missionloftshop.com/) and he’s even painted some of the pictures hanging on the walls.

Michael’s ability to bring out the best in any space has become the primary focus of his business. It all started when he purchased Mission Loft, back in 2010. When he first bought the property, it was in need of a lot of TLC. Over the following years he poured his heart and soul into the renovation, in what became a labor of love. Only a true architect of design could have had the vision and foresight to transform the space in the way that he did. In many ways, Mission Loft was Michael’s blank canvas - as he crafted the property into what it is today, it in turn revealed in him the designer that he is today.

After revealing to the world his talents as a designer, Michael went on to design the interior of a number of other private residences for both friends and clients who all wanted a taste of his Bohemian inspired style in their homes. This ultimately led to him designing the interior of another Mission property in San Francisco, which is now another space available to book for the day under the Mission Loft property umbrella, a.k.a. Unit III.

Both Mission Loft properties are now highly sought after spaces in the media world, hosting photo shoots, video shoots and corporate events almost daily. Models, designers, influencers and bloggers of all varieties (human and animal) are lining up to have their pictures taken inside the beautiful spaces. After hosting hundreds of events at the Mission Loft properties, Airbnb asked Michael if he would consult with them as a designer, advising others on how they too can elevate their properties to the next level. Now, as one of their consultants, he uses his expertise to look at people’s homes and advise them on what it is they can do to improve the spaces they live and work in. This skillset is something that Michael would next like to apply on a larger scale - ultimately working with offices, schools, businesses and hotels of all varieties to help them maximize their use of space. Boutique hotels are the next big step he would like to take on his design journey.
